Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of JPG Smaller at https://jpgsmaller.com. By using the service, you agree to these terms.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using JPG Smaller, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. About the service
JPG Smaller provides online tools for image compression, resizing, format conversion, cropping, and related inspection tasks. Tools produce real processed files for download. The service is offered as a utility website, not as permanent cloud storage or a managed photo archive.
3. Eligibility
You may use the service only if you can form a binding agreement under the laws that apply to you, and only in compliance with those laws. If you use JPG Smaller on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization.
4. Use of the service
You may use the tools to process images you submit through the website interface (upload or supported URL fetch). Processing is subject to technical limits, including file size, dimensions, format allowlists, rate limits, and temporary download availability. The configured maximum upload size is about 15 MB per file, subject to validation.
5. Permitted use
You may use JPG Smaller to prepare images for legitimate purposes such as form uploads, websites, CMS libraries, profiles, and similar workflows, provided you have the rights needed to process those images and you comply with these terms.
6. Prohibited use
You must not:
- Upload unlawful content, malware, or files intended to harm systems or other people
- Upload images you do not have the right to process
- Attempt unauthorized access to the service, temporary storage, APIs, or infrastructure
- Abuse rate limits, automate scraping of the service in a way that degrades availability, or disrupt other users
- Use URL fetch to reach private networks, unauthorized hosts, or non-image payloads
- Misrepresent output as lossless, certified, or guaranteed when the tool’s actual behavior does not support that claim
- Use the service to violate third-party intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
7. User-uploaded content
You retain whatever rights you already have in images you upload. Uploading a file does not transfer ownership of that image to JPG Smaller.
By submitting a file or URL, you grant JPG Smaller a limited, temporary technical permission to process that content solely to operate the selected tool, generate a result, and make a short-lived preview/download available. That permission ends when temporary processing and download handling are complete.
8. User responsibility
You are responsible for:
- The legality of content you upload or fetch
- Confirming that output size, dimensions, format, and visual quality meet your destination’s rules before submission
- Keeping original masters when the result matters
- Not relying on temporary download links as archival storage
9. Intellectual property
JPG Smaller branding, site design, original copy, and software belong to the service operator and its licensors, as applicable. These terms do not grant you rights to copy the site, reverse engineer protected components beyond what applicable law allows, or reuse branding in a misleading way.
User-uploaded images remain the responsibility of the uploader. JPG Smaller does not claim ownership of your uploaded images.
10. Image processing limitations
Results depend on the source image, format, dimensions, requested target, quality tradeoffs, and processing path. In particular:
- Lossy formats such as JPEG can reduce visual quality
- Target-size tools aim under a published ceiling and report measured bytes; exact byte equality is not guaranteed
- Conversion can change transparency, color handling, or file characteristics
- Resize and crop change pixels; they are not the same as compression alone
- Very difficult targets may be unreachable without severe degradation; the tool may report limitations honestly
Always verify the downloaded file before submitting it to a portal, CMS, or other destination.
11. Availability and changes
JPG Smaller may change, suspend, or discontinue tools, limits, or features. The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, hosting issues, abuse mitigation, or circumstances outside our reasonable control. No uptime percentage is guaranteed.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, JPG Smaller disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that outputs will satisfy every third-party validator, that processing will be uninterrupted, or that temporary files will remain available for any specific duration beyond current cleanup behavior described in the Privacy Policy.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, JPG Smaller and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including lost submissions, lost profits, or replacement costs arising from use of the tools or inability to use them. Your primary remedy is to stop using the service and keep local copies of important files.
14. Privacy Policy
How temporary files, sessions, rate limits, and related technical data are handled is described in the Privacy Policy. That policy is incorporated by reference for privacy-related topics.
15. Restriction of access
We may rate-limit, block, or otherwise restrict access that appears abusive, unlawful, or harmful to the service or other users. Temporary processing endpoints may reject requests that fail CSRF checks, validation, or rate limits.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use when the service changes. The “Last updated” date shows the current published version. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms where permitted by law.
These terms do not currently specify a particular governing-law jurisdiction. If a jurisdiction is later formally selected for the service, this section will be updated.
